His father worked as a roofer, while his mother ran a housewares store in which they all helped out. This is a great book if your an El Camino fan or owner and have an interest in the history and progression of the El Camino thru the years. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning how the latest technologies are interfacing with todays manufacturing.. The stories on El Caminos are from various car magazines and GM puff pieces. There is no nitty gritty discussion on what makes one El Camino better than any other. The later chapters became a chore to read because they were nothing but speculation(and blame) on politics, the future, global warming, world catastrophe, etc. Despite its photograph on the front cover, there is not even an index entry to the Millau Viaduct in the book. But on the other hand I enjoyed it and I found some interesting points of view in it. This book captures the unmistakable power of the John Deere tractor over the years with more than 500 photos. Or they may have colorful names like the Waterloo Boy. They may be numbered--from the Model 40 and 50 to the industrial strength 8301 and 8401. But in the end, they are all John Deere tractors, an icon of the landscape of American agriculture and industry since their first appearance in 1923. In pictures from one of the worlds best-known tractor photographers, Legendary John Deere Tractors celebrates the hard-working tradition that has made John Deere one of the most beloved mechanical workhorses in America and around the globe.. They may be known by letter--the D, the GP (general purpose), or the A and B

From the Inside Flap

John Deere may have been a bit slow to enter the tractor market, not launching a company-branded tractor until 1923, but once the agricultural powerhouse entered the scene with its mighty Model D, it never looked back. Building a solid reputation with its quality, innovative machines, John Deere quickly became one of the top tractor makers, launching a two-cylinder line that revolutionized both the agricultural and industrial world and won Deere a special place in farmers’ hearts.
