I personally think Monstrously Funny Cartoons will be better for my nephew then it is for me but I definitely found it to be a fun little read through.*I received this book from the publisher. I would like to read a similar work from somone in Switzerland where the value of trees and timber has been recognized and large scale governmental intervention and support provided to insure that the Swiss, who love to build houses with carved wooden interior decorations, have a continuous and sustainable supply.. The photography is superb! Large fonts make this an easy read aloud in the classroom, at home or for an independent reader. Check out the debut from this brilliant up and coming author.. Why Mary, why not Mary. Read I am Rosemarie to find out if Rosemarie can survive through the rest of the war. The comic strip story written by Stan Lee is much goofier and lighter than that which appeared in comics with Spidey breaking in to Mary Jane's apartment to propose. This book deals with the growing problem of male pastors sexually abusing their parishioners.The longer chunks of story tend to be the most effective, like Justin Hall's "La Rubia Loca," an engrossing story about a bunch of hippie slackers stuck on a bus tour through Mexico with a crazy woman. The contents range from the fantastic (Rebecca Dart's "Rabbithead," which channels Topo Gigio and Clint Eastwood) through fiction (an excerpt from Alex Robinson's graphic novel Tricked) to serious nonfiction (Joe Sacco's account of a Marine unit in Haditha). Editors Pekar (American Splendor) and Moore (Punk Planet magazine) concentrate on the graphic equivalents of literary fiction and essays, and the best results are haunting. . A few of the shorter pieces are almost amateurish by comparison, but in general this volume shows the Best American Comics concept to be a showcase for thought-provoking and evocative work.
