How do you best describe Tim Page to someone who's never heard of him ? They should of course read his book, which I can truly recommend.Being aware of the 60s era with the music, drugs and political climate helps understanding the context in which Tim Page worked.What I find interesting is that Page unknowingly reveals a lot of heartfelt "british insecurity" and instead of putting on a stiff upper lip he maintains a more appropriate Rock n' Roll Cool. All books on Self-realization / liberation / awakening, are pointers that guide "seekers", like myself, toward the point when the search ends, as the "seeker" is no more. It seemed to get repetitive and preachy.. Additionally, there are accompanying commentaries and before-and-after pictures from actual patients.This is an easy to read book that covers all the fine points of cosmetic surgery. The virtual character is computed via the heat kernel method and the Lefschetz formula is proven. The next chapter is the most interesting in the book and discusses how one can apply these results over a symplectic manifold. It feels similar to The Alienist-- meaning you get drawn into it right away, and before you know it you're completely wrapped up in the book. Eggert didn't take that route.
