This is a genuine book, definitely worth buying.. The brand name dropping was a little over zealous. This is a fantastic book on advanced sampling techniques of rare, clustered, populations. I received Surrender, New York the day it came out, I preordered it after reading Michael Connolly's review in the New York Times. I work in a medical ICU, and use this all the time. It is a downer, but a hopeful downer. There are some things in the book that I have to go back to sometimes as a reference, especially when I want to eat something new, I check with the book first. There’s also Kaylee, who is pregnant at 16, and feeling guilty at the changes happening to her family. If I had a nickel or every boring and useless meeting I've had to endure, I would own half the country!The whole book is valuable, but for my money the most important advice is in the beginning, when LaForce underscores that meetings are very costly.
